IPL Hair Reduction

The big Ginger Horse far too keen to get over a jump which is miles out of the picture!

Know the facts before starting any treatments....

Many people, both men and women, are plagued with unwanted facial and body hair. Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are the modern ways of removing hair. But how do they work and are they safe? There are many claims and counter-claims so who do you trust? Firstly you should read our About Us page, then browse our site and finally do a search with Google and read all the news about hair removal before making a decision - get as much information as possible.

We have a second generation IPL system, they are really taking over from laser and are fast becoming the treatment of choice, as they provide gentle and more effective treatment than lasers or electrolysis.

The Ellipse IPL system is widely acknowledged to be the best of the best, it is not a laser, it is a second-generation Intense Pulsed Light (I2PL) system, using broad-spectrum visible light. Its clinically proven implementation of the Intense Pulsed Light technology is unique. "Dual Mode Filtering" takes away those wavelengths which only cause heating of the water in the skin. In other words: Since it uses only clinically relevant wavelengths we will be using comparatively low energy levels such that client discomfort and risk of side effects will be minimal.

The spot size of the hand-piece, which delivers the energy to the skin, is large: 10 by 48 mm. It can fire new shots as quickly as we can move the hand-piece. This means that we quickly cover even large treatment areas.

To achieve long lasting or permanent hair removal, it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle from which individual hairs grow. Well controlled pulses of light can penetrate the upper skin layer and be absorbed by one of the body's own natural chemicals - melanin - in the hair confined in the follicle.

Melanin converts the light energy it absorbs into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. This technique has the name "Selective Photothermolysis.

The visible light produced by the Ellipse Flex and Ellipse Light systems are carefully controlled to produce the correct pulse length and right amount of energy to destroy the follicle.
